Position Overview:
The Commis I is responsible for preparing, cooking, and presenting Italian and Continental dishes in accordance with the restaurant’s high standards. This role demands strong culinary expertise, efficiency, and the ability to maintain consistent quality while supporting the kitchen team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and cook Italian and Continental dishes following recipes and menu specifications.
- Assist the Chef de Partie in food preparation and execution.
- Ensure consistency in taste, presentation, and portion control.
- Monitor mise-en-place to ensure freshness and availability of ingredients.
- Maintain hygiene and sanitation standards in compliance with HACCP and restaurant policies.
- Handle kitchen equipment and tools safely and efficiently.
- Contribute creative ideas to menu development under the guidance of senior chefs.
- Train and mentor junior kitchen staff.
- Monitor stock levels, report shortages, and minimize food wastage.
- Ensure timely preparation of dishes during service hours.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Diploma or certification in Culinary Arts or a related field.
- Minimum 3–4 years of experience in Italian and/or Continental cuisine.
- Strong knowledge of pasta, pizza, risotto, sauces, and Continental preparations.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
- Team leadership and mentoring abilities.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
