Background
The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime is the main UN agency in the fight against illicit drugs, crime, corruption and terrorism in line with the UN Conventions and Universal Instruments. The UNODC Regional Office for South Asia (UNODC ROSA) is located in New Delhi (India) and covers six countries of the region: Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal and Sri Lanka. Under its new Regional Programme for South Asia for the period 2024-2028, UNODC is delivering technical assistance to South Asia under the following five sub-programmes: (1) addressing and countering the drug problem (2) preventing and countering transnational organized crime; (3) preventing and countering corruption and economic crime; (4) preventing and countering terrorism; (5) criminal justice and crime prevention.
To support the implementation of the GLO.ACT Project (Global Action to Prevent and Address Trafficking in Persons and the Smuggling of Migrants – GLO.ACT South Asia) implemented through UNODC’s Action against Human Trafficking and Migrant Smuggling (GLOTS3), the UNODC Regional Office for South Asia seeks to hire the services of a National Programme Coordinator in Kathmandu, Nepal.
This incumbent will work under the direct supervision of the global GLO.ACT Project Coordinator and overall guidance of the Regional Representative/Deputy Representative, UNODC Regional Office for South Asia, located at the UNODC ROSA in New Delhi, India.
Duties and Responsibilities
Under the general supervision and policy guidance of the UNODC Regional Representative for South Asia and the direct supervision of GLO.ACT Project Coordinator, the incumbent will be responsible for leading GLO.ACT South Asia implementation in Nepal, through planning, implementing and managing the delivery of policies, reports, knowledge products and other results approved in the project document and annual workplans, in accordance with UNODC rules and regulations. S/he will also closely work with Government officials, local government, non-government and civil society organizations, as well as other UN agencies.

Work implies frequent interactions with the following:
Counterparts, officers and technical staff in relevant Secretariat units and UN funds, programmes and other UN specialized agencies; senior level officers in national governments, international organizations, consultants.
Results expected:
Manages the coordination of the GLO.ACT South Asia project in Nepal; Provides well-researched and sound analysis and advice on crime prevention and criminal justice related developments in countries and regions, in the specific areas of trafficking in persons and smuggling of migrants, with special focus on law enforcement and prosecution/criminal justice; delivers outputs in a timely manner; effectively implements and/or supports of programme activities; effectively disseminates best practices and methodologies. Organizes and participates in field missions. Delivers effective substantive and technical assistance in the organization and delivery of training for crime prevention and criminal justice administrators. Liaises effectively and in a timely manner and interacts with colleagues and concerned parties internally and externally.
