Job Description for Waiter
- When a customer enters a restaurant, he or she is greeted.
- introduces guests to the menu and informs them of daily or seasonal specials.
- Responds to inquiries regarding menu items, ingredients, and pricing.
- Accepts food and beverage orders from customers by writing them on a ticket, typing them into a tablet, or memorizing them.
- Customer orders are forwarded to the kitchen staff for preparation.
-Takes food orders from the kitchen, checks them for accuracy, and serves them to customers.
- Assures that customers are happy with their food and processes extra course orders as needed.
- Cleans tables by removing used dishes, glasses, and utensils.
- Processes cash payments and, if necessary, returns change to customers.
- Arranges dishes, glasses, and flatware on tables and replenishes condiments.
- Maintains knowledge of menu items, specials, and general information about the restaurant.
- Daily or on a regular basis, they meet with managers and wait staff to learn about menu changes and specials, as well as to discuss forthcoming reservations and customers with specific requirements.
